Description
Pinta Head is located on Baranof I., at W end of Peril Strait, in Canoe Pass, 26 mi. NW of Sitka, Alex. Arch.
History
Named in 1884 by Commander Coghlan for the U.S.S. Pinta, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) vessel, which navigated these waters. The name was published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in the 1891 Coast Pilot (p. 181).
