History

Spanish name given in 1775-79 by Juan de la Bodega y Quadra and Francisco Antonio Maurelle as "Isla Toti," meaning "robber island." The translation of this name was used by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) but was discontinued in 1922, beacuse of confusion with Ladrones Islands. See Ladrones Islands.
