Mountain Point is located on E coast of Lindenberg Peninsula, Kupreanof I., W shore of Wrangell Narrows, 5 mi. S of Petersburg, Alex. Arch.
History
Named in 1884 by Commander J. B. Coghlan, U.S. Navy (USN); name published in 1883 Coast Pilot (p. 115) as "Cove Point." This point is possibly "Mys Vodopada" meaning "Waterfall Cape" or "Mys Kritoy" meaning "Steep Cape" name given in 1838 by the Russian surveyor, G. Lindenberg,
