Description
Francis Anchorage is located in South Arm Farragut Bay, 1.5 mi. N of Read I. and 83 mi. E of Sitka, Coast Mts. 3 miles wide.
History
Named in 1887 by Lieutenant Commander C. M. Thomas, U.S. Navy (USN), for Alaskan ship pilot E. H. Francis. Name was published in 1888 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS).
