Sumdum Glacier is located heads on S slope of Mount Sumdum, trends SW to Powers Creek, 6 mi. E of Harbor I. and 50 mi. SE of Juneau, Coast Mts.
History
Tlingit Indian name reportedly representing the booming sound of the icebergs as they break off from the glacier; published in 1892 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) as "Soundon."
