Description
Jeanette Island is located one of McClure Island on Beaufort Sea coast, 41 mi. E of Beechey Point, Arctic Plain.
History
Named in 1881 by Lieutenant Commander G. W. DeLong, U.S. Navy (USN), for his steamship, the Jeanette.
