Description
Sarichef Island is located at mouth of Shishmaref Inlet, Kotzebue-Kobuk Low.
History
Named in 1816 by Lieutenant Otto von Kotzebue (1821, p. 204), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), who wrote "I called the narrow island after our worthy vice-admiral, Saritscheff (sic)," Vice Admiral Gavrila Andreevich Sarichev, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
