Description
In Katmai National Park and Preserve, on the Alaska Peninsula, 17 mi SW of Mount Katmai, Aleutian Range. NOTE: BGN research form (1966) mistakenly recorded longitude at 152° West; corrected to 155° West.
History
Named in 1919 by R. F. Griggs, National Geographic Society, for George C. Martin, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), who wrote the first authoritative report of the 1912 eruption of Mount Katmai.
