Description
Alakanuk is located population 278, at E entrance to Alakanuk Pass, 6 mi. SW of Kwiguk, Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
History
Eskimo village reported in 1899 by G. R. Putnam, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS). Its population was 61 in 1939 and 140 in 1950. A post office was established here in 1946 (Ricks, 1965, p. 3).
