Description

Kwikluak Pass is located in Yukon Delta, heads at Head of Passes, flows NW and SW to Norton Sound 18 mi. SW of Kwiguk, Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.

History

Eskimo name published in 1842-44, by Lieutenant L. A. Zagoskin, Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "Kvikhlyuak," with note in Russian "Krivoy, Izvilistyy," meaning "crooked, meandering." Captain C. W. Raymond, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, referred to it as "American Mouth" in 1869.
