Description
On Kodiak Island, 2 mi NW of Kodiak, extends SW 1.8 mi. at head of Monashaka Bay.
History
named in 1869 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), Russian naval officers in 1808 gave descriptive name "gory Chyernysheva," meaning "Black Mountains," published by Lieutenant Sarichev (1826, map 16), Imperial Russian Navy (IRN).
