Name published by Baker (1906, p. 296); derived from the name "Kekurya Ganinskiya," meaning "Ganin Pinnacles" (rocks), given in 1839 or 1840 by Murashev. The name "Twins" was published in 1881 on U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) Chart 776.
