Sundstrom Island is located off SW tip of Aiaktalik I., 4 mi. S of Kodiak I.
History
Named in 1906 by Captain Hodgkins, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), for Quartermaster Gustaf L. Sundstrom, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), a crewmember of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) steamer Patterson, "who lost his life on June 29,1906, by drowning, in the performance of his official duties * * *."
