History
Transliteration of the name "M(ys) Kekurnyy" given in 1839 or 1840 by Murashev and published in 1849 on Russian Hydrographic Dept. Chart 1425. Baker (1906, p. 497) published "Pillar Cape," the translation of Murashev's name. Because of duplication, the name was changed to its present form in 1909 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS).
