History
Lieutenant Commander Nichols, U.S. Navy (USN), reported, in the 1891 Coast Pilot (p. 79), Port Tongass is a small harbor, ***." The Russians who used this harbor called it "Tlehonsiti." (Baker 1906 p. 632).
