Claremont Glacier is located on Kenai Peninsula, terminates 1 mi. W of Kings Bay and 18 mi. S of Whittier, Chugach Mts.
History
Named in 1910 by U.S. Grant, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), for Robert Fulton's Clarmont (which Grant misspelled), which made the first practical steamboat trip on the Hudson River from New York to Albany in 1807.
