Description
2.3 mi. S of Douglas and 4 mi. S of Juneau, Coast Mts.
History
The name "Jumbo Mountain" was published by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) in 1904, perhaps from the Jumbo Mine at its base. Renamed "Mount Bradley" in 1939 by the people of Douglas in honor of Frederick W. Bradley (1863-1933), who was active in mining in California, Idaho, Oregon, and Alaska. He was president of the American Mining Institute and in 1931 was awarded the Saunder Gold Medal for outstanding achievement in mining (DeArmond, 1957).
