Herbert Glacier is located heads at 583700N8 1343400W and trends SW to an unnamed lake at head of Herbert River, 2 mi. N of Windfall Lake and 20 mi. NW of Juneau, Coast Mts. 8 miles long.
History
Named in 1890 by Lieutenant Commander H. B. Mansfield, U.S. Navy (USN), for Hon. Hilary Abner Herbert, 1834-1919, lawyer, Colonel in the Army of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, member of Congress, 1877-93, and Secretary of the Navy in the Cabinet of President Cleveland, 1893-97.
