Description
Berners Bay is located on E shore of Lynn Canal, 16 mi. NW of Dotsons Landing and 34 mi. NW of Juneau, Coast Mts. 3 miles wide.
History
Discovered by Joseph Whidbey in 1794 and named by Captain Vancouver (1801, v. 5, p. 435). Name is probably from "Berners," his mother's family name (Wagner, 1937, p. 376).
