Description
Located in Glacier Bay National Monument, on Wachusett Inlet and 61 miles northwest of Hoonah, St. Elias Mountains.
History
Named by members of the Glacier Bay Expedition of 1941 (Field, 1947, pl. 1) for Kloh Kutz, whose name means "hole-in-the-cheek," a chief of the Chilkats. In 1869, these Indians reportedly informed George Davidson, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), of the existence of Glacier Bay.
