Description
George Island is located in George Is., in Cross Sound, at mouth of Port Althorp, 36 mi. NW of Hoonah, Alex. Arch. 1 mile long.

Named by W. H. Dall, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), in 1880 and published in the 1883 Alaska Coast Pilot, p. 187.
