Description
Ilin Bay is located at head of Islas Bay, 16 mi. NW of Chichagof, on W coast of Chichagof I., Alex. Arch. 0.5 mile wide.
History
Named by the Russians in the early part of the 19th century "for the Russian mate or pilot Ilin who made a reconnaissance of it" (U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) 1883, p. 182). In 1883 it was called "Ilina Bay" by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS).
