Description
Lehunua Island is located in chilkat Inlet, off SW coast of Chilkat Peninsula, 22 mi. SW of Skagway, Coast Mts.
History
"Lehunua" is a Tlingit Indian name variously spelled "Lehu-nuwu "and" "Tlekunuwu" and is said to mean "red-ocher ford"; reported in 1923 by International Boundary Commission (IBC) and published in 1924 by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS).
