In the Necker Islands, at the E point of entrance to Symonds Bay off the NE coast of Biorka Island, off the W coast of Baronof I., 34 km (15 mi) SW of Sitka, Alex. Arch.
History
Named in 1879 by Lieutenant F.M. Symonds, U.S. Navy (USN), for Master (later Commander) Gustavus Charles Hanus (1846-1931), U.S. Navy (USN), who, with Lieutenant Symonds, surveyed this area in 1879.
