Shelter Bay is located on W coast of Hinchinbrook I., 32 mi. SW of Cordova, Chugach Mts.
History
Name published by U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS) in 1900. Probably so named for the shelter the lagoon would provide for vessels during stormy weather.
