Located in the Chugach Mountains, 6 miles northwest of Whittier.
History
Name proposed in 1976 by Senator Ted Stevens to commemorate Alaska Congressman Nicholas Begich (1932-1972), who along with Congressman Thomas Hale Boggs disappeared on October 16, 1972 during an airplane flight from Anchorage to Juneau.
