Description
Knik River is located heads at Knik Glacier flows NW to Knik Arm, 10 mi. SW of Palmer, Cook Inlet Low.
History
Eskimo name meaning "fire (igniq)" reported by Captain Tebenkov (1852, map 6) Imperial Russian Navy (IRN), as "reka Knyk." Present spelling was reported by George Davidson, U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), in 1869 Coast Pilot (p. 190).
