History
Descriptive name reported in 1891 by Joseph Stanley-Brown, naturalist. Putnam (1903, p. 015), U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey (USC&GS), gives the Aleut name as "Kimilogchilogh" meaning "living place in autumn," so called because there was formerly a barabara or native house here, where some natives lived during the season for fox-trapping."
