History
Local name. In 2023, the BGN approved a proposal to change the name to Lake Killian which honored Victor (Vic) J. Killian (1896-1983?) who donated land and provided plumbing and sewage upgrades for the Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation where the lake is located. The proponent was told that the landowner, Scouting America Northeast Illinois Council, supported the name change. Both the proponent and the Northeast Illinois Council requested that the BGN revisit its decision based on the new information that the Council did not support the name change.
