Description
Heads at the junction of Rogers Branch and Borah Creek, about 4.3 km (2.7 mi) NNW of Lancaster, flows SW approximately 32 km (20 mi), then SE 29 km (18 mi) to the Mississippi River, about 4 km (2.5 mi) SW of Potosi and 17.7 km (11 mi) N of Dubuque, Iowa.
History
Named for a well known fur trapper and Indian trader named Grant who lived along the river bank in a cabin prior to 1848 when Wisconsin was still a Territory. (US-T131/1968/The Romance of Wisconsin Place Names/p50)
