Description
Located west of Harrys Ridge, bounded on the north by South Coldwater Creek and on the south by the North Fork Toutle River, 8.6 km (5.3 mi) north of 1980 Crater on Mount Saint Helens.
History
Named for David Alexander Johnston (1949-1980), a volcanologist for the U.S. Geological Survey who was manning a volcano observation post on the ridge when the post was destroyed by the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mount Saint Helens.
