Description
Located within the City of Longview, S of State Route 4, 5.1 km (3.2 mi) NW of the point where the Cowlitz River enters the Columbia River.
History
Named for Sacajawea, a Shoshoni woman who traveled with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A proposal to change the name Lake Sacajawea to Lake Sacagawea was submitted in February 1998. In November 2000, the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN).
