Located on the east side of Lower Machodoc Creek.
History
Established as a fishing community on the north and east side of Lower Machodoc Creek. Named Cole Point on U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) topographic maps since 1892, but listed as Coles Point in Gannett's 1904 Gazetteer of Virginia. Plural form made official by a decision of the US Board on Geographic Names (BGN) in 1940.
