Located between Great Machipongo Inlet and Sand Shoal Inlet.
History
The name Cobb Island was made official by a decision of the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, Nov. 7, 1893. The island was named for Nathan Cobb, a native of Massachusetts, who had purchased the island in 1839.
