Description

Located in Ascutney State Park, in the Town of Weathersfield, the Town of Windsor, and the Town of West Windsor

History

Possibly derives from the Abenaki word “Ascutegnik,” meaning “meeting of the waters,” or an anglicized version of an Abenaki word meaning “rocky summit,” “three brothers," or “a peaked mountain with steep sides.” A proposal to change the name to Kaskadenak was not approved by the BGN in September 2018.
