Description
In Wasatch National Forest/High Uintas Wilderness.
History
Prior to 1967, the name was in the singular and referred to one lake. In 1967, the Board on Geographic Names (BGN) approved a request from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to amend the generic to Lakes as topographic maps depicted two bodies of water. In 2009, the Forest Service submitted a request to revert the generic back to the singular form, citing evidence that the more westerly lake has been dry for many years.
