Description
The dam at Lake Powell, named Glen Canyon Dam, is located in Coconino County, Arizona. The reservoir extends to the northeast into Utah approximately 200 miles and follows a portion of the Colorado River.
History
Named for Major John Wesley Powell (1834-1902), who was the first to explore and survey the Colorado River. (UT-T103/p221)
