8 km (5 mi) SW of Peterson, 5.6 km ((3.5 mi) N of Francis Peak.

History

Named for Thomas Jefferson Thurston, a pioneer who settled in the Morgan valley area in the 1850's. An earlier name for the summit was Barton Peak, named by the Wheeler Survey of 1877 for surveyor Joseph Barton.
