Location approximate. According to 1968 BGN research, "Shown as a small stream entering the Green [River] from the NE; now shows the Green River cutting through this canyon, as part of the Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
History
Named by Powell Expedition May 30, 1869 for a kingfisher seen at the stream.
