Description

Roughly a quadrangle area bounded by the Rio Grande and the Pecos River, except at the north, where the several physiographic units of the region extend into New Mexico; incomplete record.

History

Here, a great variety of physical conditions exist which are geologically fundamentally different from the rest of Texas; scenically the Trans-Pecos partakes of much of the attractiveness of the desert, but no single category embraces all the varied and contrasting phases of this region which is part desert plain, part mountainous or plateau-like, intermingled with a range of varied topographic and physiographic aspects in plenty.
