Description
Largest desert in North America covering approximately 200,000 square mi (518,000 square km). Located mainly in Mexico in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo Leon, Zacatecas, and San Luis Potosi. In the United States it extends into the states of Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. The minimum elevation is approximately 1000 feet and lies generally between the elevations of 3000 and 5000 feet (914 - 1524 m).
