Located in southeastern South Dakota, just southwest of Sioux Falls; County Seat: Parker.
History
Created and organized in 1871; named for John W Turner (born 1800) of New York, a pioneer settler in this area. He served in the Territorial Legislature from 1865-66 and again in 1872. (SD-T17/p34-5)
