Description
Located west of Hill City.
History
One theory suggests that this feature was named for the Saint Elmo Mine, located at its base. Another theory suggests that the summit was named for John Elmo, a pioneer prospector who lived at the base of the feature. A third theory states that it was named for John Elmo and the novel Saint Elmo, which was very popular at the time. (SD-T17/p396)
