Description
Located in southeastern South Dakota, about 145 km (90 mi) west northwest of Sioux Falls; County Seat: Plankinton.
History
Created in 1879 and organized in 1882. Named for Roman "godess of the dawn" Aurora, by a local literary club which hoped that their new settlement "would bring the dawn of a new era for them." (SD-T17/p20)
