History
The stream is named for a nearby sheer rock outcrop locally known as the Stone Roll. In times gone by, the Stone Roll was a favorite hiking destination of local citizens because of its unobstructed view of the picturesque Oysterdale Valley. Families would bring picnic lunches, climb up and down the cliff, and children enjoyed rolling stones over the edge.
