Description
Located just NW of Hurwal Divide, 1.6 km (1 mi) N of Matterhorn, 2.3 km (1.4 mi) NW of Ice Lake, 13 km (8 mi) SSW of Joseph, in Eagle Cap Wilderness.
History
Named for Sacajawea, a Shoshoni woman who traveled with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A proposal to change the name Sacajawea Peak to Sacagawea Peak was submitted in February 1998. In December 1999, the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN).
