Description

Located at the head of an unnamed tributary of East Owsley Creek, 1.1 km (0.7 mi) NW of Spring Mountain, 3.2 km (2 mi) SW of Drumhill Ridge, 20 km (12.2 mi) NW of La Grande.

History

Named for Sacajawea, a Shoshoni woman who traveled with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. A proposal to change the name Sacajawea Spring to Sacagawea Spring was submitted in February 1998. In December 1999, the proposal was rejected by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (USBGN).
