Description
Located in southern Ohio, along the Ohio River and the boundary with Kentucky and West Virginia, 96 km (60 mi) southest of Chilicothe; County Seat: Ironton.
History
Formed on 20 December 1815, named for US Navy Captain James Lawrence, who fought and died during battle with the British in the War of 1812. (OH-T802/p277)
