Description
Located in north central North Carolina along the boundary with Virginia, 96 km (60 mi) north-northeast of Raleigh; County Seat: Warren.
History
Formed in 1779 from Bute County when after that county was divided into Warren and Franklin Counties; named for Revolutionary General Joseph Warren (1741-1775) who was killed in Bunker Hill. (NC-T11/p517)
