Located in North Central North Carolina along the boundary with Virginia, 69 km (43 mi) north-northeast of Raleigh; County Seat: Henderson.
History
Formed in 1881 from granville, Warren, and Franklin Counties; named for Zebulon Baird Vance (1830-1894), Congressman, Senator, and Governor of North Carolina. (NC-T11/p510)
